Daddy Daughter Dance

Ms. C has a daddy/daughter dance coming up with her brownie troop.  She is SOOOOO excited for it!  I have been looking around for a cute dress for her to wear.  Sometimes I luck out at Target but I have been circling them for weeks and no dresses in sight.

As I was cruising ebay today I found this dress brand new with tags - HALF PRICE

Isn't it adorable?  This is Lilly Pulitzer's mini Adelson dress.  I LOVE navy and hot pink together and this dress couldn't be cuter.  I picked her up a glittery pair of pink ballet flats last week that will match perfectly.  She will also wear it for Easter so it was 45 dollars well spent!  You know how I love my ebay :) xo B

Almond Milk

I have a trip to Florida coming up in the Spring and the scale has been sneaking up and up due to an indulgent holiday season. I am returning to my Spark People - they have a food diary/calorie tracker and at first it seems like a lot of work but believe you me, it is really worth it to write down everything you eat. IT WORKS and trust me you will think twice before casually popping a soda or a cookie or my favorite a glass of wine! I really give it my highest recommendations.

I was perusing a meal planning blog and (I wish I could reference it but I can't seem to locate it) and the author was discussing her new found love of almond milk. At only 60 calories per cup (for the original) MORE calcium, and half the carbs of 1% milk  not to mention no worries about cows getting these antibiotics and hormones I figured I owed it a try. I LOVE it - love it in my coffee, love it in my cereal, love it just plain to drink.

I bought the Blue Diamond brand and found the consistency so close to milk I really think I could substitute it and my kids would not notice. I ended up buying a 3 pack of half gallons of the silk version yesterday at Costco (only brand they had available) 3 for $8 dollars and change. I don't like the silk version as well because is a little thicker in consistency and is also tinged with a tan color (thus making it harder to sub in with the kids) so I think in the future I will stick to the Almond Breeze Blue Diamond brand and pony up for the 3.50 per half gallon. Hopefully Costco will pick them up!

I am hoping the extra lbs are going to just fly off - stay tuned :) xo, B

Warbler Envy

Blaine is by far my favorite character from Glee... ever so slightly jealous that my oldest and her grandma are going to see him live on the stage in How to Succeed in NYC.  Ok, make that extremely jealous.... ;)

Here's my all time favorite Blaine performance on Glee, I pity the fool who has a karaoke party with this on this list if I'm in attendance.  xo, B

Menu Planning

It's a New Year and the menu planning was successful in keeping my life on track so I am continuing with it!  Just got back from the store and if I don't type it out, I am sure to forget and/or lose the list!  We pretty much have at least one basketball game and/or practice per night.  Sometimes two....   xo B

Wednesday 1/4 beef stew over egg noodles
Thursday 1/5 stir fry chicken/broccoli with rice
Friday 1/6 american chop suey, salad
Saturday 1/7 chicken pot pie

Monday 1/9 london broil, potato, salad
Tuesday 1/10 chicken enchiladas
Wednesday 1/11 linguini with clam sauce
Thursday 1/12 Turkey Chili

Starting Fresh

2012 will mark some new beginnings for me!!!

Starting with this new blog :) I am breaking ties with the old business which I had a hard time saying goodbye to. I'll be focusing more time into the etsy shop and the happenings around here!  I have started my annual quest for organization and feel like this might really truly be my year where I get my act together ;)

First stop is the basement/sewing/storage section and I will let you in on a little secret.... you have to throw things out - lots of things.  It was hard at first but I am on a flinging it roll!  The garbage men are going to just LOVE me!

If things keep moving along the way the are, I might even treat you to some before and after photos hoarders edition!
